Students will explore the setup and operation of controlled indoor environments, including lighting, HVAC systems, and environmental controls necessary to optimize plant growth. They will learn about various growing mediums and their suitability for different cultivation systems, as well as the fertigation methods and automation technologies required to deliver precise nutrient solutions. By examining cannabis growth stages, students will understand the tools and techniques needed to monitor and support plant development effectively. The purpose of this course is to establish in our students a foundational knowledge of soil science, sustainable, organic horticulture. This foundation begins in the soil and then extends through the botanical world drawing real world examples and using a diverse array of scientific thought stemming from biology, geology, hydrology and climatology. By the end of this asynchronous course, students will possess the technical expertise and foundational knowledge necessary to thrive in the cannabis industry. They will be able to interpret and apply cannabis laws and regulations, implement lean farming principles to optimize efficiency, and manage critical aspects of commercial cannabis cultivation. This includes evaluating sustainable site selection, designing and implementing advanced security protocols, and developing a comprehensive understanding of environmental controls and automation systems essential for maintaining optimal growing conditions in a cannabis facility.
